Prophet vs Priest

I remember from the Bible Study Camp last week. Dr. Moye said Ezekiel was both the prophet and the priest, which was rare because most are either prophet or priest.

I definitely feel like a prophet today.

My church has finally chosen a candidate for the new pastor-in-chief.

One of the deacons actually said the pastor is willing to submit to the church!! (And this is supposedly a good quality of him.) Who should one submit to? I'm sure by church they did not mean Jesus as the head of church, that kind of thing...

And then someone said she didn't know what he was talking about in sermons, they said some benefit from stories in sermons as well, (our previous pastor-in-chief just talked about stories unrelated to the Bible in ALL his sermons) and then even if the sermons are really good (like a banquet, that's what he said), few can understand and there is no "increase" in numbers in church, it's no good...

Can you believe they actually said this kind of thing???!!!!

I asked them why they said stuff like this and they gave me stupid answers... sigh...

Like growth in church in a THEOLOGICAL DISCUSSION! Let's not discussed it this time...

And the church means all the church members, not just the church committee, HAH, like they have ever consulted us on each and everything and even if they had, I mean, who are we?? the pastor should submit to US???!!! What KIND of LOGIC or belief is THAT??!!

I'm sick...

I really can't imagine a sermon is totoally out of the context of the Bible!

Today I think about your church problems too. Pray for your church and your boldness to be speak for Him.

got the same feeling as you did yesterday...
feel sad about it. i don't really understand why a pastor is supposed to deliver not-so-good sermons. i do agree that there are lots for him to do, but isn't teaching is the most important of all?

Bao, be grateful you that you can't imagine it.

I have heard a sermon on one episode of TV the pastor watched in China, not on the meaning of it, or its correlation with the Bible, he just talked about the story of the whole episode from the start to the end...

It's not that no one is bold enough to say anything, it's just that nobody is listening to us...

bad sermon part is one thing... I really don't think anyone can be worse than LHC, but who knows =P but the way they said it, as if good sermons will only scare ppl away coz they won't understand!!

Bad sermons that only entertains will only attract people who're not really following God. I'm so sad they don't even understand this. No wonder LHC was chosen years ago...

I can't believe they actually make those kind of statements publicly...

And the way they believe in methods that can make the church grow, instead of thinking about fundamentals like why ppl are leaving (hint hint: the poor teachings)... and just think about NUMBERS!

I'm angry just thinking about it!!!

I feel sad to hear such thing happening in His church. A pastor can never deny his/her most important responsibility is to preach. Good sermons based on His words are just fundamental to a church. Deacons should have the responsibility to remind their pastors when he/she serves in the worng way too. Ai... quality is far more important than numbers... when can they see that? Pray that His Holy Spirit shine through all these people's hearts...

I am glad that there are still some bro/sis like you who would like to stay in the church and speak the right thing when no one is listening. I am sure it is not easy to stay... add oil ah

i read this in one of Marva's books titled 'Reaching out without Dumbing Down'...
'A closely related problem with the power of Mammon is that, when church budgets decline, many parishes turn in the wrong direction to overcome the deficit. They push to make worship 'attractive' and 'popular' in order to appeal to the unsaved public and draw them to our churches...The gospel is indeed attractive to the unsaved, but we cannot sow it in shallowness if we want to reap deep discipleship.'

i think the quotation explained itself.

but our service is not attractive even in the shallowest terms... sigh...
